Tegunungan Waterfall

Sky Panorama
Description:

Tegenungan Waterfall, often called Air Terjun Tegenungan by locals, is a stunning natural site in Gianyar, about a 30-minute drive from Ubud. Unlike many waterfalls in Bali that are tucked away in the mountains, Tegenungan is more easily accessible, which makes it popular with both tourists and locals.

The waterfall plunges about 15 meters into a wide pool below, surrounded by dense jungle and cliffs. Visitors can swim in the refreshing water, stand beneath the spray, or simply relax on the rocks while enjoying the sound of rushing water. The lush greenery and tropical plants around the falls create a tranquil, almost jungle-like atmosphere.

To reach the waterfall, you’ll walk down a staircase with several viewing platforms along the way. These spots give you panoramic views of the falls from above and make for beautiful photo opportunities. At the bottom, bamboo bridges, swings, and riverside cafes offer a blend of nature and leisure.

The volume of water changes depending on the season—during the rainy season, it’s powerful and dramatic, while in the dry season, it’s calmer and ideal for swimming. Sunrise and late afternoon are the best times to visit, as the lighting is softer and crowds are smaller.

Nearby, you’ll also find traditional Balinese villages, rice terraces, and art markets, making Tegenungan a perfect stop during a day trip around Ubud and Gianyar.
